THE Stockport coroner and police officers were caught up in a moo-dunnit mystery when called to investigate suspected human remains found in Edgeley.
Workers refurbishing the former Kwik Save building, on Castle Street, made the seemingly grim discovery on Wednesday (August 2) after finding bones when digging.
The site was cleared while experts were drafted in for a steak-out but a specialist officer - who is a qualified archaeologist - declared the remains were that of a cow slaughtered over 50 years ago.
[A reminder that Edgeley was still relatively rural not so long ago. A farm house used to stand in a corner of the Somerfield car park, where the recycling bins now stand. Click the image for the fill story in the Stockport Express.]
