The antique Gorsey Bank footbridge is still there, but not accessible to the public. I presume they are keeping it for the moment as it is the easiest way to get workers and materials to the other side.A deep trench has been dug at either end of the footbridge and concrete piers have been built in this trench, presumably to provide support for the new bridge.
