A 13th to 14th century arrowhead was recovered from a medieval post pit following this summer’s excavations by Manchester University’s Archaeological Unit, in co-ordination with Mellor Archaeological Trust.Wrought from iron, the arrowhead is 8cm long and is deliberately designed to maim humans, rather than animals.
